I love this wonderful loosely woven wool cloth that I work with each day making one off patchworks and commissions. There's something quite magical and mystical about it that connects me with my forebears who used it extensively in their daily lives. It has such a long and interesting history which is perfectly summed up in this wee poem written in 1878.
